Muzzleloading History

Muzzleloading has been around for ages. In the early 1800's even into today there has been a obsession in muzzleloading. They were used in the civil war, and many other wars to come. They were built for reliability,  you can bang them around everywhere and they will still fire no matter what. They can not shoot very far, but they can do a lot of damage upon impact hitting a target. They were made to do much needed damage against enemies, and animals as well. They were used to bring down enemies in the Civil war and many other wars, but are also used to hunt and kill food. Over the years from the early 1800's to present day they are still being modernized. They have gone form ball and patch muzzleloader, to primer muzzleloader. There are many things that have changed but some of the most noticeable is the style and the way in which the gun fires. In the old style muzzleloader you shove powder, patch and ball down the barrel, and put a cap on the nipple which is located by the breach, and this is how they operated. In modern day muzzleloaders, you put a powder caplet and a sabot bullet down the barrel open toward the receiver to insert a shotgun primer, and this is how the modern day muzzleloaders operate. Bullet Information

Bullets have come a long way over the ages with the first bullet being a rounded lead ball to what we know today as the copper jacketed lead bullet. Sometime after 1249, people were realizing that gunpowder could be used to fire projectiles out of the open end of a tube. Early projectiles were stone of metal objects that could fit down the barrel of the firearm. By 1550 lead and lead alloys were the preferred projectiles. When manufacturing practices improved, firearms and lead bullets became more uniform in size and were produced in distinct calibers, which gave us the diameter of the bullet. Typical bullets today are made from a lead of lead alloy containing antimony. Bullets created in today's world have a jacket typically made from copper or gilding metal, which is an alloy of copper and zinc. Some bullets have and require lubricant which include Carnauba wax which is made from Carnauba palm. Other lubricants include oils, and molybdenum disulfide (moly). (Bullet History).

Muzzleloader Information

In 1718,James Puckle demonstrated his new invention the "Puckle Gun". Puckle wanted to create a new breed of Muzzleloader. Puckle did this be creating the flint lock. The flint lock uses sparks once the trigger is pulled to ignite the powder making the firearm go off. muzzleloaders were created back in the 1300's. They were one of the first firearms created once the Chinese created gun powder in 1232. This was an evolutionary event for everyone because there was now a way that people could acquire food without using much effort. They still had to load the muzzleloader which took quite a bit of time. Eventually throughout the ages they figured out quicker ways of loading. In today's day and age they use powder pellets which come in different grain weights, which make things easier. Instead of measuring out the powder then pouring it into the muzzle, making sure that all of it went into the barrel, now all you do is put the pellet into the muzzle, push the pellet to the bottom.(Muzzleloader info).

Stoeger firearm history

Stoeger is another famous antique model of firearms. From the early 1800's to the present these firearms are still being produced. They were built for those who were not able to afford the higher priced firearms. Stoeger was founded by Austrian immigrant Alexander F. Stoeger. This was a new inspiring invention for Alexander, because he not only wanted to create something that everyone could enjoy, but something everyone could afford. Not only could everyone afford one but they were able to afford a couple of them, because he was using much less material therefore it made the firearms cheaper. The only downside to making them cheaper was that they were more likely to break down and not function as properly as some of the better made firearms as other corperations such as Remington, Benelli, and Browning.. These firearms were built to last and with stand the abuse that most American hunters put a firearm through. Stoeger was inexpensive, and they were easily obtainable by the public. Daisy and Colt firearm history

Back in the mid to late 1800's guns were starting to be manufactured. Many people did not know what these were all about until they go there hands on them. Guns are what help people to collect food and fend for themselves. Guns are made for survival especially back in the mid 1800's. There was really no other way of getting food other then trapping and spearing. Once the gun was invented people realized that this is more convenient and easier to use, rather then trapping and spearing their food. One of the first guns that was easily made and widely known and used is the daisy BB gun. In the late 1870's Clarence Hamilton created the BB gun. he wanted to invent something no one else had done, therefore he thought of a type of gun. Clarence Hamilton was just a jewelry store owner that knew how to invent things, therefore he decided to create the gun. (http://www.daisy.com/history). Many people did not understand why Hamilton wanted to create a gun, but once he did it changed the way many people acquired their food. Another major gun manufacturing company is the Colt company. Colt was founded by Samuel Colt, when he received a British patent on his improved design for a revolver in 1835, two U.S. patents in 1836, one on February 25, and another on August 29. Samuel Colt was a genius inventor that revolutionized the way firearms were and are being produced to this day.(Colt Manufacturing company info).

Gun Manufacturing History

Gun Manufacturing is a largely talked about topic, especially in the world today. There are many things that people know and some things people would like to know about the history of gun manufacturing. I created this blog to show just how the History of Gun Manufacturing began and how it has evolved. The first firearm was created by Lit Wicks in 1364. Lit created this firearm after the Chinese created gun powder in 1232. I chose this topic because I have always been interested in the ingenuity of a firearm. Just the way they are put together they have always kept me wondering what's next.
